Can someone help me with putting smilies in quick reply box

Can someone please tell me exactly what I need to do to add the smilie box to the quick reply area? I know how to get to the template and everything to edit it.

Also I tried adding $smiliebox to the code and it didnt work!

i did something for vb2 .
look at the source for the link for the smile box in the long/advanced version of a reply.
get that link, with the javscript to make the box the right size.
include one of the .js files that controls the auto insert for things like :smilies:

sorry I don't have vb3 installed so I can't say what to do exactly.
