  • A couple of remedial questions

    Hi all -

I'm still very new to the whole vBulletin experience. I have what I hope are a couple of simple questions:

1/ the WYSIWYG editor looks quite different. If the one on vBulletin.com different, or is there something I have yet to set in the admin panel?

2/ is the "Quick reply" that is present on the vBulletin.org forum also present on the public release of 3 b4? Again, I don;t see this feature on my own place, or have I overlooked something in admin again?

3/ In the actual vBulletin files folders, there is a template file folder for "Silver". I presume this is what is used for the admin panel. I'm not sure how to apply that to the overall forum - currently the standard is used.

Probably very remedial questions with simple questions, but I thought them worth asking.

Btw - this is quite awesome software.

In the Admin Control Panel > Options > vBulletin Options > You will find settings for the WYSIWYG Toolbar. It isn't turned on by default (if I remember correctly), so you might need to do that.

Besides that, it is a per user/browser setting.
Goto the User Control Panel and then Options, you will find your setting there too, on a user basis.

And this only works in browsers like Internet Explorer that understands how to use the Active-X - Soon mozilla will support the wysiwyg editor too !

vBulletin beta 4 from version 3 has the quick reply as a default feature. In version 2.3.0 this is not a default feature. You probably want to go through all the Admin Control Panel > Options > vBulletin options, to ensure you have all the features you want turned on/off, turned either on or off.

This silver folder is indeed for the Admin Control Panel style: ACP-Silver.
You can set this to your admin control panel by clicking on the [options] button when you see the login prompt for the admin control panel.

This is a admin control panel style only, and beta 4 of vbulletin only has 1 default style; the purple one you see on this site too.

The final style for vBulletin 3 isn't done yet, so no styles are provided.

Thanks for the reply - much appeciated. I didn't find the WYSIWYG editor option, so I'll run through the admin options again after I take the kids out.

People have gone through and applied the control panel themes to their main forums.

If you look at fury's signature (he has also done the blueish theme too! http://www.otcentral.com/forum/index.php?styleid=12), youll see his website has the silver look. He might have posted the modifications to templates to make it work. Or you could try www.vbulletin-templates.com (i think thats the site!)
