  • Image signatures by Usergroup?

I've played around with the options, but I can't find a way of allowing one Usergroup to have image signatures and others nots. I worked out how you can turn standard (text) signatures off by Usergroup, but this doesn't help. Here is what I'm trying to do...

    Normal Users = text signature
Special Group = text or image signature

Any ideas on "how do I" do this?

This is not a feature and would require hacking.

Would be a neat feature for some future release, it's a very good incentive for the subscriptions service and besides that, I can't hack to save my life! lol

Template editing with conditionals could do this, no? Simply hide it in UserCP if user is not in certain group #'s

Yes, I guess this in theory would work? What is the syntax for checking a usergroup? Is there a guide to using vB conditionals anywhere? Or Feldon you fancy helping me?

edit: i found this so I will go and play.

Is there no option to upload signatures?

Disable img code in signatures for everyone. Create a custom profile field called "signature image" (be sure to specify a regular expression to prevent dynamic images from being used). Then in the signature do an <if condition="!empty($post[fieldXX]) && $post[usergroupid]==YY"><img src="$post[fieldXX]... /></if>

              Simple

But does this get around the fact you can't upload images? I don't see how I could add this kind of field via the Admin CP?

They won't be able to upload images to your site this way. Just tell them to get a geocities account or something like that.

Hide what? The entire signature textbox? You can already disable signatures entirely.

This wouldn't address the issue of users who want to have more than one image or users who want to format the display of the image(s) (maybe center it or the like) or who want to use text around the image(s).

I think the main issue is that although vB3 supports image signatures, they have forgotten to build in a method of uploading them. The popular image signature hack for vb2.x allowed images to be uploaded. Asking someone to set up a Geocities or other free account in order to host 1 signature file seems crazy. Any news/views from the vB team on this?

Yes I agree, it is nice to have photopost installed but in my case, I have a nice piece of software unusable until they get support for vb3.

I realize photopost/reviewpost make cash off of it, but an integraded solution would be kick butt.

I'm not sure what you are referring to Dezoirs? I think you misunderstood my post.

Also, is there a way to use conditionals so that the profile field "signature image" only shows up for a certain usergroup?
