  • Email Verification

    When new users join they do not receive an email verification eventhough this is enabled.

    It used to do it but now does not! Any ideas anyone before I revert back to 2.3.0

    Same here. It takes a long time to send an Email.

      The problem is because the emails are now sent via the scheduled tasks. If you have a low-traffic site, then it will take a bit before the emails are sent. This is a known issue (according to the developers) and it is being looked into.

        As Smirks said this is a scheduled task issue and is being addressed. Meanwhile you can trigger these actions by viewing a thread on your forums.

          Thanks Steve - its reassuring to know this problem will be fixed. I didnt understand how I can trigger these actions by viewing a thread? Could you elaborate.

            It is not just a problem with registration emails. It is a problem with all emails, and they should all be instant instead of tasked :
            - admin alert
            - report to a moderator
            - email change (re)verification
            - new PM
            - ...

            The only things you should task are :
            - dayly/weekly/monthly digests
            (this means the things that can't happen more than once in the same hour)

              I agree. 1 board i run is a small board and until i knew how to get tasks to run verification emails sometimes wasn't sent out for hours!

              btw, if there a way to resend account activation to 1 selected user only? I couldn't find it in the AdminCP when editing a user

                Actually, they are not scheduled tasks. They are automatically sent out when someone hits showthread. Beta 4 makes it send out on more pages and I believe Scott may be making a switch to disable the queue-ing.

                      I also get this problem and my fourms are quite new and when I tried it once it took 7 hours for the e-mail to send. I guess this will be sorted before the product goes live? Everything else works brill.
