  • AFAIK it has to be one of the following:

    1. Corrupted cookies
    2. Cookies being blocked by your computer
    3. A bad session table
    4. Faulty Cookie Domain and/or Path settings

    • I guess I'm greatly confused as to how regular sessions work just fine, but the admin session does not. It knows who I am as it prefills my name... so some part of the session is working.

Can someone explain what the difference between regular loggin in and admin loggin in is?

      • It's weird because vB2 worked fine on the exact same server just before I upgraded, so if it were a cookie problem it would have affected most likely both forums, but it only started occuring with vB3, I even went back to vB2 as a test and had no problems...

        • Kier's script worked for me - eventually. I tried it without a reboot, and nada - cleaned all cookies, sessionhashes, etc... Did a reboot, and it worked.

          • For anyone still having problems, try this version of the fix_login.php script.

To run this, upload it to your main forum directory and run it from your browser.

            UPDATE

This will not work with recent versions of vBulletin.
You can reset the cookie path and cookie domain using the tools.php file which you can find in the do_not_upload folder of your vBulletin zip file.

I tried to use the script above and get:

                Updating cookie domain to ''
                Updating cookie path to '/'
                Disabling control panel timeout
                Rebuilding settings

Fatal error: Call to undefined function: build_options() in /home/virtual/site2/fst/var/www/html/ranger/fix_login.php on line 17

WHEW! Fixed my own problem.. problem is, I still have Beta 2 scripts and you changed the funciton name in beta 3. By changing it to the right function, this script clearedmy problem and I am now again able to log into the control panel.. thank god!

                  • Why is it that after attempting to login, the redirect takes me to an archive page and then proceeds to give me a 404? Is that weird...?

                    • Ok, now that problem is fixed, and I've run Ed's script, but it still won't work.

                        • it worked for me. however i also noticed after upgrading from vb3 beta 3 to beta 4, my "Add No-Cache HTTP Headers" was set to yes, when i had it set to no before the upgrade. i don't know if that would have added to the problem or not.
