    Urgent - weird problem, corrupt db ?

    Today I got a weird problem after getting lot of connection errors, I started to get invalid sql problems.

    Now I have noticed that on every forum there is a corrupt sticky thread, and on every page of a thread the 1st post is corrupt.

    Anyone had this problem before?

    It's possible your db was damaged. To fix this run Repair/Optimize in the Admin CP. You may need to run it more than once to fix all errors:

    Admin CP -> Maintenance -> Repair/Optimize Tables -> Check All -> Continue

    If you cannot access the Admin CP you can also use phpMyAdmin to repair tables.

    If that doesn't work then this may be too damaged to fix with the normal methods. Please check out this thread for other ways to repair a db, particularly items #2 and 3:

    You may have to ask your host to try and repair this for you.

    Then try rebuilding the thread and forum counters in that order:

    Admin CP -> Maintenance -> Update Counters

      I have done the repair a few times, there are no errors. I have also done DB Check and DB Repair from control panel again without any errors being reported.

      Have also rebuilt thread and forum info.

      But still getting the corrupt thread and forum being added to the output.

        To troubleshoot this, first reupload all the original vB non-image files (except install.php). Make sure you upload these in ASCII format and overwrite the ones on the server. Also be sure to upload the admincp files to whichever directory you have set in your config.php file. Then run 'Suspect File Versions' in Diagnostics to make sure you have all the original files for your version and that none show 'File does not contain expected contents':

        Admin CP -> Maintenance -> Diagnostics -> Suspect File Versions

        [Note: In some cases you may also need to remove any of the listed .xml files in the includes/xml directory.]

        Next, disable all plugins.

        Note: To temporarily disable the plugin system, edit config.php and add this line right under <?php

        define('DISABLE_HOOKS', true);

        Then if you still have this problem, create a new style and choose no parent style. This will force it to use the default templates. Finally empty your browser cache, close all browser windows then try again. Make sure you change to the new style and view your forums with it. Do you have the same problem?

          Tried everything, restored from previous day's backup and all working fine now.
          Always have an automated backup running
