restoring database

my hosting went kaput so i am using a new host.
whats is best procedure to restore my data base.?

do i FTP the "upload" file first and then all the back up files( or just the install & includes folder)?

how do i restore the categories/threads?

and then the SQL data base?

Did you make a backup of the database?

The only consistently reliable method of backing up and restoring a database is with shell access via telnet or ssh. Please see the instructions here:

This is because backing up with a PHP script like that in the Admin CP or phpMyAdmin can result in PHP timeout errors and an incomplete backup file.
