  • Missing posts

I have had 3 users complain this week that some of their posts they swear they have made have 'disappeared'. They've not been deleted-I can find no trace of them, it's as if they have never posted. I checked the moderation queue-nothing is there and they can post perfectly fine most of the time.
I repaired/optimised the tables tonight as that was all I could think to do-no errors.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks,
    Anne

PS-no hacks or anything and haven't changed anything in months.

Ask them what their default age view is.. Perhaps they have it set to show only posts from last 24 hours .. or last week .. instead of all threads.

I wasn't clear I think. These are their own posts, and they say they posted and saw it in the thread then and when they refresh the board an hour later, they aren't there. I can't see any trace that they ever posted. The first person who complained, I just assumed he had messed up, but there are 2 others now....

Assuming a Mod or Admin did not remove these posts, there is nothing in the default vB that would account for this. Have you checked the Mod Log in the Admin CP?

To troubleshoot this, remove any hacks and disable your plugins, then see if you still have this problem.

If so, reupload all the original vB non-image files (except install.php). Make sure you upload these in ASCII format and overwrite the ones on the server.

Next, create a new style and choose no parent style. This will force it to use the default templates. Finally empty your browser cache, close all browser windows then try again. Make sure you change to the new style and view your forums with it. Do you have the same problem?

Yeah, I checked the mod log-nothing was deleted. I don't have any hacks or plugins...

Thanks for your help, it didn't make sense that it had to do with the software, but I had to check. I'm hoping to have time to upgrade to 3.5 this weekend, so I won't reinstall the current version to test if it solves the problem. Maybe the upgrade will solve all. If not, you'll hear back from me

Where the missing posts all made at the same time? It could be that your host restored something, you could ask them.

That's a thought-I don't know exactly when they were made as I can't see them but 2 in one afternoon for sure. I will ask my host. Thanks!

                Is this still an issue?
