    Trouble setting up after install.

I just installed onto a new server, and having a problem. I have only a little knowledge of this stuff, so after I uploaded everything, I had to have someone else create the database and connect it for me. He did that today, and e-mailed my username and password he entered during installation. I wasn't sure if he set that name and pass for an "Admin" or "member" so I tried that username and password in the forum area, and it worked fine, then I tried to login to the admin control panel , it seems like it logs me in fine and "thanks" me, then redirects me to the same login with no errors. The url displayed at this point is the following:

    www.mysite/forums/admincp/adminlog.php?nojs=1&nojs=1

Thanks for any help anyone can offer, I didn't run into this on the last site we had it on, so I'm not sure how to fix it.

I just tried checking the config. file to see what was entered there, and the only thing to note was that there was no value entered for superadmins so I entered '1'. Now - it still doesn't go anywhere, just reloads page, but it no longer shows the url I posted earlier, now it just goes to '/forums/admincp/Index.php' (basically just reloads)
    Any ideas?

Hmm,.. did you see a link at the bottom of the forum that said "AdminCP" or "ModCP"?

Then the user he provided you with is not an administrator..
If you haven't done much yet, I'd suggest doing a clean install.

Reupload install.php, and run it, your config.php info will sitll be the same. All you need to do is empty the database and reinstall. (which is an easy process, and you will make sure you're the only one with access.)

For future refrence try asking for help around here were a very helpful community when it comes to getting things setup and figured out.

              It should.

However I'd recomend doing as I've instructed, both for safety and security.

I figured it out, he never deleted the install file, just changed it to install.bak. All set - Thanks !!
