  • background image for forumbit on forumhome

    howdy, i think this may have already been asked in another post, but i was a little unclear if it was the same query as mine, so i'm posting again (apologies now)

    basically i want to do as the topic suggests, add a *background* image on the forumbit on forumhome (the table cells underneath the category strip), but i only want them added in the forum description cells (not the last post cells etc.)

    i'm guessing this will be done via replacement variables and css, i just don't know where, what or how.

    any info would be great

    For example:

    Admin CP -> Styles & Templates -> Style Manager -> « » -> Forum Home Templates -> forumhome_forumbit_level2_post

    Add the red code:

    Code:
    <tr align="center">
    	<td class="alt2"><img src="$stylevar[imgdir_statusicon]/forum_$forum[statusicon].gif" alt="" border="0" /></td>
    	<td [color=red]<if condition="THIS_SCRIPT == 'index'">style="background: #[color=blue]123456[/color] url([color=blue]path/to/background.gif[/color]);"</if>[/color] class="alt1Active" align="$stylevar[left]" id="f$forum[forumid]">
    		<div>
    			<a href="forumdisplay.php?$session[sessionurl]f=$forum[forumid]"><strong>$forum[title]</strong></a>
    			<if condition="$show['browsers']"><span class="smallfont">(<phrase 1="$forum[browsers]">$vbphrase[x_viewing]</phrase>)</span></if>
    		</div>
    		<if condition="$show['forumdescription']"><div class="smallfont">$forum[description]</div></if>
    		<if condition="$show['forumsubscription']"><div class="smallfont"><strong><a href="subscription.php?$session[sessionurl]do=removesubscription&amp;f=$forum[forumid]">$vbphrase[unsubscribe_from_this_forum]</a></strong></div></if>
    		<if condition="$show['subforums']"><div class="smallfont" style="margin-top:$stylevar[cellpadding]px"><strong>$vbphrase[subforums]</strong>: $forum[subforums]</div></if>
    	</td>
    	<td class="alt2" nowrap="nowrap">$forum[lastpostinfo]</td>
    	<td class="alt1">$forum[threadcount]</td>
    	<td class="alt2">$forum[replycount]</td>
    	<if condition="$vboptions['showmoderatorcolumn']">
    	<td class="alt1"><div class="smallfont">$forum[moderators]&nbsp;</div></td>
    	</if>
    </tr>
    $childforumbits
    Change the blue code appropriately.

    Make a similar change to the forumhome_forumbit_level1_post template if needed.

      thanks for the reply.
      is there a way in which you can add *different* background images for each? based upon a forumid variable or something (and naming each image after the forumid number or some such). the steps outlined above will add the same image for every single cell

        Code:
        [color=blue]path/to/background_$forum[forumid].gif[/color]
        For example, the background image for forumid 3 would be named:

        background_3.gif

          all working well, my last final question now.
          is it possible to call a mouseover effect, when rolling over the different cells (one that would change the background image) with the usual mouseoff effect to set the image back to the original?

            Admin CP -> Styles & Templates -> Style Manager -> Common Templates (in the menu) -> footer

            At the bottom of the template, remove the red code:

            Code:
            <script type="text/javascript">
            <!--
            	// Main vBulletin Javascript Initialization
            	vBulletin_init();

            	// Initialize 'Active' Table Cells
            	[color=red]//[/color]activecells_init();
            //-->
            </script>
