  • Will restoring vb.sql DB undo queries?

I am going to run some queries and want to be certain I can return to a safe point if things go wrong. I have created a backup of all tables via the admincp feature creating vbulletin.sql and saving it locally.

If I need to undo all changes made to vBulletin by queries, will running this backup through phpmyadmin suffice? Does this completely overwrite the tables?

    Thank you for any help.

That may not be enough. The only reliable method of backing up and restoring a database is with shell access via telnet or ssh. Please see the instructions here:

    Backup:
    http://www.vbulletin.com/docs/html/m...nce_ssh_backup

    Restore:
    http://www.vbulletin.com/docs/html/m...ce_ssh_restore

This is because backing up with a PHP script like that in the Admin CP or phpMyAdmin can result in PHP timeouts errors and an incomplete backup file.

I did read that but wasn't too concerned since my db is very small in this almost-unused installation. I will consider the SSH or Telnet options though I'm not certain I have them right now.

      Thanks
