  • Most users ever online was xxx | number reported is too high

Is there some problem with the "Most users ever online"?

I've got ## that are very high, much higher than can be explained. I see other vb boards that are much higher than the average online too.

Is there some problem? If so is there a fix?

This is due to the search engines spidering these sites. It's a common issue.

One option is to edit your robots.txt to block them out, although I can understand why that may not be ideal.

I wish there was a way to get vBulletin to not count spiders as guests if it recognises them as spiders, at least I don't think there is a way.

Doh! This is the very thing i was coming to post about just now. I want an "accurate" count for my site and the spiders just ruin that. I see the edit the robots.txt file idea to block them out. How exactly do you go about editing that file?
