I feel like a complete idiot...and sorry if this is an easy question.

I understand how to move my mysql db to the new host and think I can do that successfully, but what about the vbulletin files? I wanted to just move them including the very few modifications but I'm failing. I tried using cpanel to upload a home directory download from the other host-nothing is uploaded. I've tried to ftp-first to dl everything then ul it-but when I dl the public html directory it only dl's the upload folder and skips the db directory.

Is this just how it is? that I have to reinstall vbulletin and edit again my config files and anything else?

Usually the database move is the hard part, not the files.

FTP into your old server. Navigate to your forum directory. Download all files from your forum directory.

Edit the includes/config.php file of the downloaded files. Enter the MySQL info for your new server.

FTP into your new server. Navigate to your forum directory on the new server. Upload the files.
