How can I make a typed link become live

Just so I am clear here.

If someone typed "I am betting on Joe Bloggs to win the european cup @ 17.00 with Bet365.

How can Bet365 be converted into a hyperlink with affiliate tracking code instantly?

It has been done on this forum, example below

3 posts down, note Victor Chandler is hyperlinked with which lands at the sportsbook home page.

How can this be done?

Create a replacement variable:

Admin CP -> Styles & Templates -> Replacement Variable Manager -> [Add New Replacement Variable]

Replace:

Bet365

...with:

<a href="[color=red]LINK HERE[/color]" target="_blank">Bet365</a>

One slight problem though, if the text appears in a "thread title" it makes a huge mess.

How can I do this for text in posts only, rather than thread titles?

Or if you have any other solution, that would be great.

I don't know of any easy way to do that.

Another forum has already done what I wanted (shown below), only the links within threads are converted and never thread titles.

Sorry I don't understand what this has to do with the issue of thread titles. 'Victor Chandler' is not in the thread title.

You are right it isn't Steve, but they have other examples where it is and does not hyperlink.

Look closer at the link. The 'autolink.php' script creating this link is not a vB file. This is a hack they've installed.

If it is a hack, does anyone have a link to it?
We run a forum with our shop bolted on and would like to turn product names into clickable links that take you straight to the items, but we'd only want it to do this in the body text of a post, not the title..
