  • Restore Back Up w/o SSH/Telnet

I have been having problems with my host, my forum has been down for a week due to hardware problems with my host. This has happen twice in the past 2 weeks. The first time i was able to view my content, the second Im starting from scratch. All i have is a back up from the VB admincp & a back up from the database from phpadm. File sizes are 48mb.
I dont have access to SSH/Telnet
I hear about a way that takes forever but can't find a thread thats has info on how to do it. I think its like restoreing table by table, not sure.
Is there such a way or am I stuck by starting all over.
Its about 5000 post that i need to restore.
I have also asked my host for help but havent heard back in 3 days now. I need to have my forum up ASAP, I have installed the forum & database to have a page up but nothing in my forum.
    thanks for any help

The only way to do it, without access to the shell is via phpmyadmin or another webscript.

Sadly they are going to timeout at that large of a database.

My best advice is to find a new host :/

          Thank you Steve Machol
After 3hrs of cut and paste i was able to get my forum back online.
only lost attchments & custom avators, i can deal with that

          i do have another question.
i reinstalled VB and then cut & paste via phpadmin.
i changed the DB name & password

now i get an my sql error number 1146
saying the orginal DB name is not found in the admincp/forum.php
i search the file and did not see where to change th name.
Now i cant edit my forum in the admincp.
          any ideas

I would need to see the entire error message but it sounds like yyou have not edited your includes/config.php file with the correct db name.

Are you sure your database is called VB3 and that you do not have a table prefix? mysql is case sensitive.

my database name is VB3 it was vb3

but in th prefix example, reads 'vb3_'
so the line under was blank and I changed it to VB3
took the borad down with database error for a second.
