    If Male and Female are used for both old and new fields, you query will work. Don't forget, you need to execute TWO queries; one for Male and one for Female. You could do it in one, but it can get complex, so the KISS principle applies.

    Oops! Wrong syntax on my part. (Getting old is such a *****...)

    set field14 to 'Male' where field9 = 'Male';

    should read:

    set field14 = 'Male' where field9 = 'Male';

    Also, you don't use quotes around your table name.
