  • Turning off forums via database?

    I can't access my forum, but I can access phpMyAdmin, and I need to turn off the forums for now so people will stop hitting it and causing my load to go thru the roof.

    So what value do I need to find to manually turn it off via the database?
    I'm looking for something like forumenabled = 0.
    Which table is this setting in and what is the value named?

    Thanks

    Run these queries to turn your board off:

    UPDATE datastore SET data=REPLACE(data,'"bbactive";s:1:"1"','"bbactive";s:1:"0"') WHERE title='options';

    UPDATE setting SET value=0 WHERE varname='bbactive';

            Run both these queries to turn your forums back on:

            UPDATE datastore SET data=REPLACE(data,'"bbactive";s:1:"0"','"bbactive";s:1:"1"') WHERE title='options';

            UPDATE setting SET value=1 WHERE varname='bbactive';

                    Sorry but once your forum is turned off, the Scheduled Task system does not work anymore and the board would not be turned on again.

                        Yes, but you'd require a custom script that sets up a database connection and then turns the forum on/off.

                        I recommend you ask for help with that on www.vbulletin.org
