  • Various problems [border and navbar]

    That's a screenshot of the left upper part of my board. I have scribbled in yellow what I want changed but since I'm new [and blonde], I can't seem to find what I'm looking for.

    First of all, I want that 'Attached Thumbnails' thingy removed. I have no idea how that got there though.

    Then, I'd like my board to have all borders 1px. I have changed the inner border width to 1, so that's what came out. Just to see what happens when i change it back to 0px:

    I don't mind the appearance in the first pic but I'd love to have it look the same throughout the whole board. As you can see, the border around my navbar isn't the way the other borders are.

    Sooo... I'd appreciate any help to make all my borders 1px - including the border around my navbar. Or to change my navbar border so it looks the same like all my other borders.

    PS: I followed the instructions in this thread but setting the cellspacing to 1 didn't change anything.

    The "Attached Thumbnails" text is not part of the default templates. You must have added it at some point. I can't know how to remove it without logging into your Admin CP and looking at your templates.

    Set this to 1 to get a 1 pixel inner border:

    Admin CP -> Styles & Templates -> Style Manager -> StyleVars (in the menu) -> Inner Border Width

      Uhmmmm... would you log into it and have a look at it if I PMed you my account details?

      I know how to change the inner border width to 1 but I don't know how to change the colour of it. Is that even possible? :$

      Oh and about the navbar: How can I make it look like on this board? With a different coloured strip above the header picture and the navbar not being a box but also like a strip? And the links on the navbar being all tiny and centered?

        Sure.

        I think you want this class:

        Admin CP -> Styles & Templates -> Style Manager -> Main CSS (in the menu) -> Table Border

        Edit the Background attribute of that class.

        That is possible, but it would require major changes to the templates. If you look at their source code you can see the code they are using for that navbar (highlighted in blue):

        Code:
        <!-- logo and buttons --><table bgcolor="#000000" border="0" width="100%" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0">
        <tr><td id="topbar">&nbsp;</td></tr>
        <tr><td valign="top" align="center" bgcolor="#FFFBEF"><a href="index.php"><img src="http://www.friends-boards.com/forum/images/finaleheader.bmp" border="0" alt="FB"></a></td></tr>
        <tr>

          [color=blue]<td  id="nav" valign="top" align="center" nowrap bgcolor="#F1F1F1">
           <!-- toplinks -->

        <a href="index.php?">Home</a> | <a href="http://www.friends-boards.com/forum/register.php?action=signup">Register</a> | <a href="memberlist.php?">Friends</a> | <a href="http://www.illbethereforyou.com">IBTFY.com</a> | <a href="search.php?">Search</a> | <a href="misc.php?action=faq">

                  FAQ</a> | <a href="pact.php?">
                  Friendly Pact</a> | <a href="quotelist.php?">Quotes</a>
          </td>[/color]
        </tr>
        <tr><td>
        <!-- /logo and buttons -->
        You would need to edit the links to fit with your forum.

          Ha! You are my hero! I could do everything on my own, I'm soooo excited!

          I even managed to remove that annoying 'attached thumbnails' thing. It was at the end of the navbar template.

          Thank you soooooo much for your help!

            OK, I still have a question: How do I add a border around the navbar? I have played around with it but all I could do was add a border around the whole site. And somehow, if I make the links bold [took me ages to find out that this is done in the CSS Selector: td, th, p, li], it also changes the text in my posts. But I guess there's no way to fix that.

            How it looks:

              I don't know off hand. I would have to look at your templates and mess with it for a while. Your style is fairly well customized so I can't refer to the default templates.

              You might try posting on www.vbulletintemplates.com for help with further changes.
