How to avoid browser timeout when doing backup?

I am trying to back up my all my databases, but I think I end up with a timeout problem all the time. I use the funcktion "Database backup" in the control panel. is there any way to fix this, or do I need to use telnet? I am not at all familiar with Telnet commands etc, so I would prefer to use the control panel..

The only reliable method of backing up and restoring a database is with shell access via telnet or ssh. Please see the instructions here:

Backup:

This is because backing up with a PHP script like that in the Admin CP or phpMyAdmin can result inPHP timeouts errors and an incomplete backup file.
