  • Occasional e-mail problem

Occasionally we'll receive a complaint that an e-mail has gone astray.

For example, a membership activation e-mail (which appears to be addressed correctly) will go to some other member. Or a thread activity e-mail (member subscribed to a thread) will go to the wrong member.

I've not received such a mis-directed e-mail myself, so I've had no opportunity to look at original headers, but the forwarded copies look correct (in terms of basic addressing).

The desired recipient and the actual recipient do not appear to be related (dis-similar names, non-contiguous ID #'s, unrelated usernames, etc.), at least as far as I can determine.

Any ideas on the cause/solution? Is this just a table in need of repair?

I genericized the e-mail addresses (such as "") in the above. The e-mail was supposed to go to "joetessa" but arrived in one of the forum's admin ("info") inboxes instead.

It's got to be a server or mail services issue because the 'To' address is correct:

      To: [email protected]
Steve Machol, former vBulletin Customer Support Manager (and NOT retired!)
Change CKEditor Colors to Match Style (for 4.1.4 and above)
