  • Using and Image for Background

    I need help figuring out how to use an image instead of a color for my forum background (similar to what's at vbtemplates.com). I've posted there, but haven't gotten a response, so I'm hoping someone here can help me. I've seen a few different suggested variations of the css code to use in the body category of my Main CSS for the style I'm using, but no matter what I do, I can't get it to work.

    These are a couple of the suggested codes:

    background: #FFFFFF url(images/filename.gif);

    "background="(images/filename.gif)"

    There are a few more, but I don't remember what they were now.

    I'm a newbie, so detailed help is appreciated as I'm completely frustrated at this point trying to get this to work.

    Edited to add: if this is in the wrong forum, please feel free to move it.

    I think you're entering it wrong. Skip the background color field, and just put the
    background: #FFFFFF url(images/filename.gif);
    in the extra CSS for the body tag.

          Hi all.

          I want to put a background image just in certain screens - for example, the screen "redirecting, now loggin in" after you type in your username and password.

          I've looked in the templates, phrases, etc. but there's not "login" template. I've also read throught these help pages but I can't figure it out. I have been able to edit a few of the template phrases but the image thing has me stuck.

          Any help is much appreciated. Thanks.

            The following templates:
            - STANDARD_ERROR
            - STANDARD_ERROR_LITE
            - STANDARD_REDIRECT

                Sorry, but I'm stuck again. I found the template I want to modify - standard_redirect. All I want to do is put a specific background image on that template. Here's the code I used:

                background: #FAF0E6
                url(images/misc/watermark.jpg);
                background-repeat: no-repeat;

                I put it inside the body tag of the template, right?

                I can't get anything to work. Again, any help is appreciated. Thanks.

                  Is that inside of a style attribute, or just inside the tag itself? CSS needs to be in a style attribute.

                    You add it onto the body tag.

                    As such:
                    Code:
                    <body style="background: #FAF0E6 url(images/misc/watermark.jpg) no-repeat">
