  • changing cookie with addition of a .

Hi, this doesnt exactly qulaify as a How do I, but seems like the best place to ask.

Our current cookie domain property is set to be blank and thus by default uses our subdomain boards1.wizards.com. However, we are attempting to allow people to log on from a non-vb page and believe that setting the cookie domain to be .wizards.com would allow code from there to check the logged in status of a boards user.

My question is this: what potential problems will this change cause? Is it going to mean a one time blanking of everyone's cookies and requiring them to log in again? Or anything more nasty than that?

Doing that will cause trouble because then you have two cookies by the same name that apply to the same page. You can avoid a lot of trouble by changing the cookie prefix at the same time, in which case everyone should just have to log in again.
