  • mysql error number: 1030 - Got error 28 from table handler

I received this error via email this morning. Aquick Gooooogle search says I am either out of space (not) or a table needs repair

It happened while someone on a Bejing server was on the site. I have no registered members from Bejing

    Any insight?

Well perror tells us that error message indicates you have "no space left on device."

Is this a unix system? If so, you may want to try doing a:
    Code:
    df -h
to see what kind of space is left on each volume. I had this same error a while back when my /tmp dir was filling up. Check for any volume that is more than 60% full.

Error code 28: No space left on device

One or more partitions on your server is out of space or doesn't have enough space to complete this operation. Shutdown your forums and contact your host immediately. You or your host will need to find out which partition is low on space and free up some more space.

Make sure your /tmp directory is hardened and secured, as that's a place for exploits...

I got one error email again this morning with the same error, reffering to the Poll table only from a different page. Bots have set it off in both cases.

The host had a space allocation corruption issue that they were working on. Using Putty and running df shows all areas as far as I can see at 19% or less usage - so it doesn't appear to be a space issue as such

I don't think it is a vbulletin issue that the support team can fix: I am posting so anyone searching can find all pertenent information (but feel free to add to this! )

for now to prevent further corruption i'd close your forums so not more write/reading for mysql database until host resolves the issue

I contacted them and /tmp was temporarily full - and was resolved almost immediately according to the tech (and they have been good about admitting errors on their servers etc.)

Steve: thanks for the input - the first time this happened they had another issue that may have cause it to appear to be out of space. THis time it was a space issue.
I posted the second instance mostly for searching by others in the forum. On curiosity - perhaps just coincidental - both instances were triggered by bots and both while reading "polls"
