  • Strange One

When I log into Admincp its slow and hangs for about 1 minute and then kicks into life all ok. Now I have just found another strange problem, even when I click control panel home link its still slow has hell on earth.

    When I click Subscriptions>Test Comminications

    I get this error:

Warning: fsockopen(): unable to connect to www.paypal.com:80 in /admincp/diagnostic.php on line 505

Warning: socket_set_timeout(): supplied argument is not a valid stream resource in /admincp/diagnostic.php on line 506

Warning: fwrite(): supplied argument is not a valid stream resource in /admincp/diagnostic.php on line 507

Warning: feof(): supplied argument is not a valid stream resource in /admincp/diagnostic.php on line 508

Warning: fgets(): supplied argument is not a valid stream resource in /admincp/diagnostic.php on line 510

Warning: feof(): supplied argument is not a valid stream resource in /admincp/diagnostic.php on line 508

Warning: fgets(): supplied argument is not a valid stream resource in /admincp/diagnostic.php on line 510

And it goes on and on and on and on....................................

All the way down the page, in fact I think its well ober 100 lines of the above, over and over again?

I have uploaded a new diagnostic php file and its still the same.

Anyone have any clues cos this was working 100%?

Together, these two issues are indicative of your server blocking out-going connections. I suggest contacting your web host about this.

      Did not think of that

Do you know what port the diagnostic file uses, and I presure this is also the same for the call home feature in VB, this will also be stopped as well?

This uses the standard port: 80.

I had the server hardened against attacks and found out afterwards that the company that did the work blocked the outgoing port 80.

Working find now, but.... does VB need port 80 open for any sort of verification purposes?

So why would it slow down the loading of the admin panel and the errors with the diagnostic file?

When you load the Admin CP vB contacts version.vbulletin.com for the latest version info. If that connection is blocked, the Admin CP will appear to load slow. I don't understand the part about the diagnostic files.

If you look at the above 1st post, you will see the error I was getting with the outgoing port 80 blockes on the server.

Now the ports open, it works 100%?
