  • vb database backups not working at all...

Since my server swap I immediately could not "Backup database to a file on the server". No matter though because I could save it to my home computer. Now when I try to save it to my home compter I am getting a tiny ass 400k file when it should be about 70megs. I'm stuck here trying to figure out what the hell is going on. Any ideas?

    Thanks ahead of time.

You will probably not be able to backup your database with the Admin CP option. The only reliable method of backing up and restoring a database is with shell access via telnet or ssh. Please see the instructions here:

      Backup:
      http://www.vbulletin.com/docs/html/m...nce_ssh_backup

      Restore:
      http://www.vbulletin.com/docs/html/m...ce_ssh_restore

This is because backing up with a PHP script like that in the Admin CP or phpMyAdmin can result in PHP timeouts errors and an incomplete backup file.
