  • Error 403 with php file extensions

Up until today my vbulletin forums were working fine, but at some point this evening browsing to them generates a 403 error. I investigated this as much as I could, and found that files without the .php extension in my forums directory could be viewed. I can view my database using Php MYAdmin, and altering chmod settings appears to do nothing.

Essentially I have no idea what the problem is. Is it possible for a web server to lose its ability to handle php on the frontend, but maintain it at the backend? Why would files with the php extension suddenly generate errors, when other files do not?

    Any suggestions are welcome.
