  • reduce bandwidth

    I've allready followed the common suggestions found at vb.com (I use small avatars (10kb), I don't allow attachments, I don't use the calendar, I use the css file and gzip, I set NO CACHE headers....) to to reduce the bandwith but still I have bandwith's problem.

    Here is what uses more bandwidth on my forum:

    Thanks

    setting no cache increases your bandwidth because the browsers have to keep calling the file from the server instead of from its cache.

        Have you tried the whitespace stripper modification at vBulletin.org?

        Quite useful.

              You might want to look for a host who offers 50+GB a month as part of their package, after about 80~ GB a month you might start to need to look for a VPS or a Dedicated solution.

                  yes. add a conditional in your postbit template

                    what exactly should I add?
                    I'm not confident with conditional

                      Go to:

                      Admin CP --> Styles & Templates --> Style Manager --> « » --> Postbit Templates --> postbit or postbit_legacy

                      Find:

                      HTML Code:
                      <if condition="$show['avatar'] AND THIS_SCRIPT != 'announcement'">
                      Replace it with:

                      HTML Code:
                      <if condition="$show['avatar'] AND THIS_SCRIPT != 'announcement' AND $bbuserinfo['userid']">
                      Additionally, set this to Yes:

                      Admin CP --> vBulletin Options --> Style & Language Settings --> Store CSS Stylesheets as Files? --> Yes

                      ... this will allow your users' browser to cache the CSS information.

                      And finally set these to yes if it is not already:

                      Admin CP --> vBulletin Options --> Cookies and HTTP Header Options --> Remove Redirection Message Pages --> Yes

                      Admin CP --> vBulletin Options --> Cookies and HTTP Header Options --> GZIP HTML Output --> Yes

                          How do I disable it?
