  • Major Upgrade Help - vB 2 to VB 3 with 3,800 members

Well after a long overdue upgrade I feel it's time to move my forum over from vBulletin 2 to vBulletin 3 because I really like some of the hacks and features available in the new version.

My current forum has Members: 3,798, Threads: 8,186, Posts: 134,638

I have a whack load of custom hacks installed for vB 2.
    Quick Reply
    Welcome Panel
    Warning Hack
    Archieve for search engines
    Custom Google Ads

My main concern with the upgrade is keeping all the members, their profiles, PMS and posts in tact for the upgrade.

The custom hacks can be re-added for the VB 3 script, no worries.
I don't care about keeping the design really, I just want members database and their posts.

My templates are completely mucked up in VB 2 currently, I want to make sure that doesn' thappen in VB 3. They just lost their name and say CHANGE original like this:

    Custom templates
    chat [edit] [remove]
    chatmain [edit] [remove]
    chatnoreg [edit] [remove]
    error_sigtoolong [edit] [remove]
    error_sigtoomanyimages [edit] [remove]
    postbit_banned [edit] [remove]
    rules [edit] [remove]
    showthread_replybox [edit] [remove]
    Default templates
    [change original]
    [change original]
    [change original]

    BIG QUESTION
Are the members database tables different in VB 2 than VB 3?
Are all the columns, and table names the same for the members?

I really appreciate any input you guys can give me. This is a live and active forum so loss of data would be devastating. Before I attempt anything I'll be sure to have 2 backups

You shouldn't have any major problems upgrading that size of a forum. The db tables are completely revised for vB3. However the import scripts take care of everything. Here are the upgrade instructions:
