  • importing ibp2 boards

I am having trouble doing a import from a ibp2 board..

the file that has the backup of the ibp board is xxx.tar.gz

How do I import using this type of backup..

or is there a easier way to do it.. ?

    I am lost..

go on shell, then issue the command
    tar -zxvf xxx.tar.gz

It'll extract everything. See if you can find a .sql in there, that's what you really need. Please note that IPB's php is useless for ImpEX as it does not contain any data that you can import...

How big is the sql backup and how large were your IPB forums?

If you have access to the database, you won't need to extract it (6MB sounds okay). Simply configure your ImpEx to read from that database (sorce) and set the destination to your own database and you can import away. You may be interested to read the ImpEx documentation for further import assistance.
