I get quite a few emails that look like this...

Returned mail: see transcript for details
    [email protected]

The original message was received at Mon, 14 Mar 2005 23:02:55 -0900 (AKST) from exprod5mx132.psmtp.com [64.18.0.46]
----- The following addresses had permanent fatal errors ----- <[email protected]>

Then you have an attachment details.txt and an attached message with the subject header or the forum post.

Why am I getting these and how can I stop them being sent to me?

are these from your server? or are you getting bounce back emails??

if you're getting bounce backs, i suggest you suspend the account untill they personally email you a valid email account.

I have a rule set at my forums, if you have a bounce back email or sign up with an invalid email address. You have to use your ISP email and nothing else.

I strongly think AOL blocks vb forums.

AOL will accept vb generated email. They do block mail from dynamic ips or ips that don't have a reverse dns record. I had this problem with our server and got the ISP to add the reverse record and it was all good.

So is there an answer to this one? What is the reason for the emails? Are they dud emails? How do you fix it?

Oh and here is one of the detail.txt attachments I have just read...

            Reporting-MTA: dns; snow.he.net
            Final-Recipient: RFC822; [email protected]
            Action: failed
            Status: 5.0.0

Does that mean that their email bounced?

This has nothing to do with vB.
