Calendar events on forums?

Can an event that was posted to a calendar be added to a certain forum to let people know that something was added? (Some place in or above a certain forum)

If a soccer club posted an event can that event be added to the soccer forum while posting it on the calendar so its not missed?

Does it have to be added to a thread as a post?

OR
Can I add something to register part and ask send me updates for calender ???
