  • Archieve method of work, the question.

Archieve in vb seems like thing which is good enough, but we are a little bit curious how does it works.
It seems not uses any server-side things like mod_rewrite, throw-type and so on.
But address in address string looks like
    http://www.vbulletin.com/forum/archi...p/t-51853.html
So, here definitely no file t-51853.html in forum/archive/index.php directory.
How does it works At least point us in right direction please.

    We'll fall in some details.
Since we can't understand the technology, we can't be sure that places will it works.
We need to know not technology itself, but server settings demands.

Generally, the Search-Friendly Archive works only under the Apache web server with PHP compiled as
      a module.

In the Admin CP, open the Server Settings and Optimization Options section and turn on the Public phpinfo() Display Enabled setting. Then provide the URL to your forums and I can tell you if it will work for you or not.

Will work in any server and it will autodetect what it can.

Its just index.php/ but we read the PATH_INFO details that are passed on so we can see whats added after index.php.

Under IIS it will use a query string to prevent any nasty errors, so you get index.php?t-1223.html and so on.
