  • Restore databse problems!

OK, after looking thogh all the docs on the site and searching the forums I cannot find a specific answer to my problem. I am basically transferring a current VB install 3.0.6 from easyspace.com to MY OWN server running from a PC in my house. I have installed Apache, MySQL 4.1, PHP and MyphpAdmin. I downloaded VB again from the members area (3.0.7) and managed to get it set up on http://localhost, and I can access admincp.

I have backed up the databse from easyspace and saved it on my hard drive! All the DOCS talk about Telnet or SSH and FTPing the folders and backups to my new server. Well I obviously dont need to do this as I AM MY SERVER!!

Can someone PLEASE help me out with this one!?

I dont know how to restore the database either at the mysql command line or from within MyphpAdmin, so where/how do I get the backup database to run on the new server. The install of 3.0.7 is clean and works, all the settings in config are correct, I can view the forum by typing http://localhost/forums/index.php and I can admincp the same way!

Just this last step is driving me crazy!

    Thanks

    A frustrated VBer

To restore your database do the following:
cd\mysql\bin ...... Or wherever mysql is installed.
    mysql -uyourusername -p databasename < c:\path to database file\database.sql
    Press Enter
Enter your database password and press enter again.

It's pretty much the same as using SSH.
