  • From vb 3.0.3 to 3.0.6

I have a website that is using vb 3.0.3.
It has quite a few add-ons.

Separatly, on a different unused domain name I installed vb 3.0.6
I'm also in the process to add the various add-ons I had on the previous one.
The only thing left to do after that's done is to move the databases with users, topics, posts, etc.

I was informed that the DB structure has changed between the 2 versions.

My question is: Can I move the db from 3.0.3 to 3.0.6 ? If so, what's the safest mode to do that?

Move? You need to upgrade. Here are the upgrade instructions:

    http://www.vbulletin.com/docs/html/upgrade/

Also please read the Upgrade FAQ here:

    http://www.vbulletin.com/forum/showthread.php?t=124989

Otherwise you can use the Impex system to import data from the 3.0.3 db to the 3.0.6 one.

I'm changing the domain names and I also want a fresh install.

Therefore I just need to move the databases. I do not want to upgrade my current version because of some hosting issues I had. Instead I want a fresh install on which I want to add the old databases.

Can I just add the databases trough the VB admin panel? Or perhaps PHPmyadmin?

      Thanks for the info.

        Then use Impex.

          Impex?

I'm not sure I know what that is.

I used impex and it seems everything went fine except the post/thred count for some forums seems off by quite a bit.

I did update the counters but it still shows a different number. For example for one forum it shows 650 posts when in fact there are over 1000.

Is there a way to make it show the right ammount?

              Thank you.

                I managed to do it.

                Ignore my last message.

Update: version 3.0.7 is just recently released, as it is a security update I suggest to upgrade if possible or at least patch the 3.0.6.
