  • Upload attachments like vb2?

    I have been in the process of trying to upload files like vb2 did. Where the browse function was already on the newthread.php page. I dont need to upload multiple files for this paticular page and just want one zip file uploaded. I have been playing with the process_upload and build_attachment functions but nothing worked... I was trying to use newattachment.php as an example, but I'm still stuck. Any direction in modifying newthread.php will be much appreciated.

    vB3 uploads the attachments before the post is created. This is different from vB2 which uploads the attachments at the same time. Because of this difference, changing the vB3 attachment system to work like vB2 will probably take some doing.

    Because this requires custom code, I recommend you post on www.vbulletin.org about this.

      Yes I know, then it matches the attachement to the new post/thread by posthash. That can be moved no problem. Why cant I call on the process_upload and build_attachment functions to do this? I dont need the foreach loop in the newattachment.php file so it would just be those two functions correct? Then I can move the posthash linking to after that has been uploaded, its just I am unable to upload anything with those functions.

      Thanks for anyhelp and I did post over at .org and no comments...

        I don't know why it isn't working off hand. I am not familiar with the low level details of the attachment system.

          Any of the other team members perhaps have an idea?

          I wanted to supplement this post cause I dont want it to appear like I am not pleased with Jakes response...I am, all I am asking is for the thread to remain open ended for other moderators to perhaps review and offer insight.

          Thanks for the consideration.

            Maybe Im doing this all wrong as I am still new to php. How wrong does this look?

            $attachment = $_FILES['upload'];
            process_upload($foruminfo['moderateattach'], $attachment, $errors);
            build_attachment($foruminfo['moderateattach'], $attachment, $errors);
            Sincerely,
