We run the latest version 3.0.6
Windows2003 Machine
We have been trying to get our email system setup properly and I believe we have accomplished this last night. However in order for anyone hosted on our box to send out an email to an OUTSIDE source users need to authenticate themselves to the server in order for it to go through.
This works well because only authorized individuals can use our mail server and it also blocks spam attacks that are trying to use our box as an open relay.
The problem is that now VBullentin and some other programs cannot send out an email because VBullentin has to authenticate to the server in order to send out an email. Is it possible to change something in the php code or what not so that VBullentin can send an email while authenticating to the server so it goes through?
We really cant have Authentification turned off because the moment we do our email server gets bombarded with Taiwanese boguse junk mail.
This problem can also be seen when doing the mailtest.php or what ever it's called, it returns a 503 error which makes total sense.
