Subscription Defaults per Forum

I just set up a forum that is private for a small group of people. I've made it automatically email each one any time someone posts. The question is: how do I let them keep their individual preference to automatically subscribe for instant email notification on all other forums except this one?

In other words I want to override their 'instant email notification' for this one forum as I know they'll already be receiving an email with every post. If they accidently subscribe to a thread they'll get double emails for those threads.

Any way to do this?

There is no function to do this nor do I think it can be done with template conditionals. AFAIK this requires modifying the code. You can try searching or asking for help with this over at www.vbulletin.org.
