new post to older forum

ok heres the situation.

forum hosting died and the forum was lost, so new host and new forum.

i was able to get the backup from the server hosting the old site, and now will bring back the old forum that has alot of posts.

question is:

can i add the new posts to the old forum when its brought back?

i dunno if its possible, cuz userid linking and alot of linking i would imagine. let me know.
