Where do I upload my new styles's images? And set them up?

I am creating my own 'style' for my vB board.

So far I have 'created' a new style based on the default one and have renamed it to 'mystyle'.

I would like to use my own graphics rather than than standard ones - can I create a new directory (say in /images/mystyleimages) upload the new graphics there and get 'mystyle' to automatically pick up the images from there?

Or do I need to do as says here:

If so, can i simply copy ALL existing items in the images directory, edit the ones I want to and then upload them along with the non-edited ones to another directory. Then to get 'mystyle' to pick them up I could go to the ACP > Search in Templates then do an automatic find of:

    images/

    and automatic replace with:

    images/mystyleimages/

will this be ok, and is it the preferred method?

    Thanks in advance. :-)

well you have to go to your xml file of the skin and edit where the old images link was and put it to the new image link

There's really two ways to do this:

The first works best if you only have one style. What you'd do is simply upload your images over the vBulletin default ones. So the files in the images/ folder would be replaced with your customizations. Once you had re-uploaded them no changes should need to be made (unless you have changed the StyleVars which I'll get to in a minute).

The second way works best if you plan on having or have multiple styles (with different image sets). First, you'd duplicate the folders in the images/ directory; so you'd have things like buttonsred/ statusiconred/ miscred/ for a "red" style, and so forth. Next you'd do as above and upload your customizations over the images in the newly duplicated folders. The last step you need to do is upload the StyleVars in the Admin CP. This is done after you upload the skin (you should never have to edit an XML file directly). Once the skin has been uploaded, go to:

Admin CP --> Styles & Templates --> StyleVars

.... for the newly uploaded skin. Then update the image paths as prescribed in the manual page you posted above.

            Thanks Daemon thats alot clearer.

I am tempted to go down the easiest method and just overwrite the existing files but at the same time I am thinking that perhaps at some point we can a choice of skins... well I could always keep a back-up and swop over with stylevars later on :-)

Thank you both for your help :-)
