Upgrading from 2.2.9 to 3.06

You can upgrade from 2.2.9:

Any version of vBulletin 2 from version 2.2.9 and newer. If your vBulletin version is older than 2.2.9, you will need to upgrade to at least vBulletin 2.2.9 before you can upgrade to vBulletin 3.

What I always do, feels safest and works every time..

Upgrade from 2.x to 2.3.6.
Then upgrade from 2.3.6 to 3.0.6.

Do I need to run the upgrades to the highest v2 version and then run the v3 upgrades? if so are these scripts contained in the v3 package? i.e. to upgrade to v3 do I just need to run install/upgrade.php after following the instructions on files here:
