    Question about transferring members and posts...

    I recently had to remove my forum due to bandwidth issues and in the process had to switch hosts also..

    So I tried the sql importing thing and all that and it didnt work out, so I did a fresh install and am starting over...

    I was wondering how I would go about getting all my members i once had back onto the forum?

    Also, how can I get the posts and forum data back?

    I dont really care about anything else, just these two main items..?

    I am sure this is all somewhere in the SQL file backup I have, but I dont know how to just get these two items out of it..

    Is this possible?

    Thanks for any help!

    I belive you can use ImPex for a vB3 -> vB3 import.

      Thanks for the input, but does anyone know for sure this can be done with vB? I no longer have my previous database running, so I cannot connect to a source db. All I have is a .sql backup file on my new server..

        You would need to restore the db backup to a new database in order to import it.

        The only reliable method of restoring a database is with shell access via telnet orssh. Please see the instructions here:
