How come I have to pay $30/year to keep access to my members area? I think thats a bit lame. I paid $160 for a lifetime license, but after a year I have to pay more if I want to change my license info. Whats with that?

The $30/yr is for continued access to download the latest version. It is optional and is only if you want access to the latest version. It has been the same poicy and price for almost 5 years now.Steve Machol, former vBulletin Customer Support Manager (and NOT retired!)

Yes, you can do this later. We cannot guarantee the price will always be $30 though.Steve Machol, former vBulletin Customer Support Manager (and NOT retired!)

I personally don't see a problem with it, all you're doing is paying for future and continued support of the product.
When you download any other software, which vBulletin basically is (in script form), you never get free updates for more than a year anyhow.
So you pay $2.50 a month (currently) to make sure it's up to the latest security standards, pretty cheap I think.Comment
