  • Changing Text to Hyperlinks

I have a question about changing text to hyperlinks. I have found several references to using replacement variables but I'm not sure it will work for what I want to do or at least I can't figure out how to do it.
Here's the situation. If someone enters a certain word like "dog" I would like to link the the url http://www.allaboutdogs.com and just display the word "dog" has as the link.
Can anyone help me out on this? Is there a tag or something that I'm missing to do this?

    Thanks,
    Dan

You could use Replacement Variables to do this, but the problem is that this will mess up any thread links that contain that word. To avoid that problem requires modifying the code. You can try asking for help with this over at vbulletin.org.

I've tried to use Replacement Variables to do it but what happens is it replaces "dog" with the url string www.allaboutdogs.com. I want to keep "dog" as the displayed text but it would now be a hyperlink. I do have HTML turned off as well as per recommendations.

Yes, that is identical to the other problem I mentioned. To avoid that problem requires modifying the code. You can try asking for help with this over at vbulletin.org.

how about choosing spaceDOGspace as your search text for the replacement?

That won't catch all your links like dog. dogs, but it does a decent job for help and ads.

          Regards,

          Matt
