Internet Explorer issue with smilies and formatting?

I have a problem with the smilies. Each time I try to use them, I just end up at the top of the page and no smilie in the post. The same happens when I try to use the bold or italic links. I have upgraded to vb 3.0.4 and have installed the 3.0.4 security file.

I'd rather not, it's only a few changes and I uploaded to one file that needed to be over written. Was it a bug in 3.0.4?

It might have been, if you can reupload all the original 3.0.4 files and use the original templates, and still get an error you should try 3.0.5
