ok so I upgraded from 2.3.0 without any trouble, but...

I'm having trouble with the templates, all I want to do is edit the headers and footers like I did before to include some graphics and banner ads. well for whatever reason I had the code in there the same as with the previous version and it wasn't working. for some magic reason the headers are happy again, but the footer just refused to work, so I checked the revert to original option and it deleted all the footers for all of the templates. so now I don't have any footers and the forums look a little wierd.

I just need the default footer, thanks!

It is IMPOSSIBLE to delete the footer unless you are running in debug mode, did not reimport the master style apon upgrade / install, or you have hacked the system.

Try reuploading all original files and clicking on the restore button again in the template editor

not to sound like a jerk but it's not impossible since that's what happened. I'm not running a hacked version, I just upgraded from 2.3.4 to 3.0.5, everything else upgraded without any trouble. since the styles don't import I started to edit them to make it look like it used to. the changes I was making in the footer weren't showing up on the forums, so I went to revert the changes, I checked the box then clicked save and the footer doesn't appear in any style anymore.

now when I go to edit the footer, the box is blank, next to the box says "(customized in a parent style)" and clicking on "parent stlye" gives a pop up window that says "the item is customized in a parent style called 'undefined' "

I just tried reloading all the files in the upload folder, that didn't fix anything and the revert check box is still replaced with the "(customized in a parent style)" message.

Create a new style as a root style. Copy the footer across form there

I'd give yout he template code but it's against the licence agreement

thanks, something must have gotta messed up, I created a new style with no parent, and that doesn't fix it and it's still missing the footer, very wierd.

Reupload the XML files located in the /install directory and make sure they are uploaded in ASCII mode.

Go into the AdminCP > Styles & Templates > Upload / Download Styles > Click on import, this will force the master style to be reimported, after doing so you should now be able to restore the footer template.

It shouldn't be possible to "delete" the footer template under normal circumstances however.

                Glad we got it fixed
