Upgrading to 3.0.5 question

I am a novice at this.

I have downloaded the full version of 3.0.5 to upgrade my current version 3.0.3. I changed the "upload" folder to "forums" which is my folder for vBulletin. I deleted th "install.php" in the install folder.

Now, if I upload this to my server how is it going to keep from wiping out all the members and post it has now?

Please help.

You'll also need to configure your "config.php" file in the "includes" directory.

But yes, it won't kill your members or posts. All of that information is stored in your MySQL database - which most definitely should not be in your board directory structure.


However, that being said - you should always always always back up your board fully before doing anything like this. That means backing up your database as well as the file/folder structure.

I did NOT know what needed to go where in my config.php file.
I Dl'ed the current one & used info from it to put in the new one.....

Actually you don't need to overwrite your config.php file. Just delete config.php.new and you will be fine.

Well, that depends on how he upgrades.

Personally, I delete everything and reload from scratch. In which case, I need to reconfigure my Config.php file.

I'm still using my original config.php file which is either beta7 or gamma. IT all depends on whether you delete the files from your server or just overwrite them.
