Thousands of email database errors

From one day to the next I have started to receved database errors in my email, thousands a day as per example below:

Database error in vBulletin :

Link-ID == false, connect failed
mysql error:

mysql error number: 0

Date: Friday 07th of January 2005 08:44:27 AM
Script: http://www.xxxxx
Referer:
IP Address: 69.xxxx

My email is getting filled up within hours by these error messages but the bulletin seems fine!!

That means your database server is down. Contact your host.

(Or, if you have changed anything in your config.php lately, you could have the wrong database information in there.)

Vbuletin support was very helpful.

As it turned out, my database was okay according to the hosting company. Apparently someone initiated some sort of attack ? and over loaded my database.

Things are fine now, crossing my fingers.

I'm just curious. Are you using surpass hosting?
I'm asking because from yesterday to today my forum started to have lots of problems and I started to get thousands of emails in my box also!

i also have that problem and it just started today...i have 15 email so far and still coming in...but the forum works fine and the server stats are fine too...
im not using surpass hosting thou...

My hosting compant told me it was a sql database overload on their system, In other words too many people using the hosting companies servers at the same time. I personally think is was an attack geared at my site.

Two weeks prior I got 274 users from privious high of 43 all at the same time with all with the same ips except for a few......!!

The attacks are out there, watch your board and hopefully the security fixes are up to date, yes I'm using 3.0.5 now. I had 3.0.3 at the time.
