  • What are Public groups?

    I'm not too sure I understand the public groups thing. Can someone please give me a detailed description? please help. thanks

  • #2
    Public groups are groups that users can request to join in their:

    User CP -> Group Memberships

    If the public group has any group leaders, then join requests must be approved by one of those leaders before they are honored. If there are no group leaders then requests are honored immediately.

    Public group memberships are added as secondary groups.

        It has it's uses. For instance I have two forums on my site that are strictly for the members of specific professional organizations. By using the public group system, members are able to request permission to join these groups and access these private forums.
