  • How do I Create Redirects for Individual Threads/Posts/etc. to another forum?

    Hey everyone,
I recently moved my forums from http://www.kirupaforum.com to http://www.kirupa.com/forum/ . A problem I have is that most of the links from various search engines and on my site all point to threads and posts on the kirupaforum domain name. Of course, I have moved all posts and threads to the kirupa.com/forum location.

Basically, for example, if someone accesses the following URL: http://www.kirupaforum.com/forums/member.php?u=1, I want it to redirect automatically to http://www.kirupa.com/forum/member.php?u=1 instead. Is there any way I can do that?

    Thanks!

I'm not 100% sure how, but you can use a mod_rewrite module. Adding ReWrite rule to .htaccess could get you setup properly I think.

Thanks Floris! I took your suggestion and looked at several sites to do that. Here is the code I have in a .htaccess file:
      Code:
      RewriteEngine on
      RewriteRule ^/forums/showthread.php?p=([0-9][0-9][0-9][0-9][0-9][0-9])$ http://www.kirupa.com/forum/showthread.php?p=$1
It doesn't seem to work though. Some of the more simple rewrite examples from the following page: http://www.yourhtmlsource.com/sitema...rewriting.html worked though.

EDIT: After further experimenting, I was able to fix this. The following code works:

      Code:
      RewriteEngine On
      RewriteRule ^forums/(.*) http://www.kirupa.com/forum/$1 [R]
      Thanks!
