You are correct. Forum information is cached. When you edit a forum in the Admin CP, that cache is rebuilt automatically.

If you query the forum table to update a description, you are only updating the forum record, not the cache.

The cache is rebuilt in the PHP code, so you should probably ask on www.vbulletin.org for help with using that PHP code in your application.

    How does the forumcache work?

The descriptions in my forum are dynamically created from time to time, and each time they're re-created I have to go in and "update counters" to "rebuild forum information" to reflect those changes.

I know that when you edit a forum description in the admincp, the change is reflected right away. My guess is that it somehow updates the cache automatically without having to rebuild everything.

I know you can't tell me how to hack it and to go to vbulletin.org, but can you at least tell me how that works?

    Thanks!
    Mickey
